An Open Letter to My Church Family

Dear sister,
You're expecting a baby- yay! I am truly so thrilled. I wanted to reach out and let you know that I am offering birth support to our church family as a personal opportunity for me to serve the community.

Do you remember the sermon series "What If?" I had just experienced the birth of my son and I took a Polaroid with the question "what if I could teach moms what I'm learning?" I left that service and promptly signed up for doula training. I am available to work with any expectant Hoboken mom, but I became a doula especially to serve you. I'd like to extend special rates to those from my church to makes sure that cost is never a reason to forgo a doula if you really want one. I'm generally just asking for help covering my expenses, and all of that is negotiable.

So why an impersonal letter? I wanted to give you space to decide what you want with zero pressure. If you don't envision a doula at your birth, that's totally ok. And if you envision a doula who isn't me, that's totally ok, too. If you'd just like to go to coffee and talk about your birth plan but not have me attend your birth, we can do that.  I just want to be a resource to any pregnant woman in our church family who feels like she could use more support and doesn't know where to find it.

That said, take a look around and if you have any questions at all just let me know! I'll even give you my number to call or text- 646-510-2555.

Much love,
Laura
